The 2023/24 Premier League season has reached the quarter pole marker with Tottenham the surprise leaders heading into the 10th round of games.
Spurs get a jump on the competition by playing Friday night at Crystal Palace, followed by four games on Saturday and five more on Sunday.
The headline act comes from Old Trafford, where Manchester United host champions Manchester City in the first Manchester derby of the season.
Three of our four Premier League predictions landed last weekend, while our four individual match previews for the top flight produced an impressive seven winners between them.
After careful consideration of the Premier League odds, we’ve picked out our four favourite bets for the weekend in the hope of building on last week’s success.
Bournemouth vs Burnley predictions
(3pm Saturday)
There’s plenty on the line at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday when Bournemouth go in search of their first win of the season against Burnley.
The Cherries are one of just two winless sides in the division and the pressure is building on head coach Andoni Iraola, who was made the favourite by bookmakers in the next manager to get the sack market this week.
Iraola will be in the dugout for this game as Bournemouth seek to end a run of four straight defeats against a Burnley side that have been well beaten by Brentford and Chelsea recently.
Only Sheffield United (24) have conceded more goals than Burnley (23), who are a young side prone to making mistakes.
Brentford fired off 23 shots last week, which bodes well for Bournemouth after an improved performance against Wolves before Lewis Cook’s red card.
But the Cherries soft centre came back to haunt them as they failed to hold onto a one-goal lead in that clash and given they allow the second-most shots in the league, Burnley should have chances.
It’s tough to trust either team to get a result and the most likely outcome is a contest were both teams find the back of the net.
Tip: Both teams to score in Bournemouth vs Burnley – 7/10 with Unibet
Arsenal vs Sheffield United predictions
(3pm Saturday)
Arsenal are the biggest favourites of the weekend on new UK betting sites for their home encounter with bottom of the table Sheffield United.
It’s already looking grim for the Blades, who have one point from nine games and as many as ten players out injured.
They continue to battle gamely, putting in a solid performance in last Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United, but are up against it in London, where they’ve won just twice in 32 Premier League outings.
Arsenal haven’t been firing on all cylinders of late but did pick up an impressive 2-1 win in Spain against Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Gabriel Jesus scored one and made the other in midweek but suffered a hamstring injury in that game, so the Gunners will need an alternate source of goals.
Captain Martin Odegaard has shown a liking for playing against promoted teams, notching five goals in seven games against the division’s new boys since moving to the Emirates.
No Arsenal player averages more shots per game than the Norwegian and against the league’s leakiest defence, he may grab his fifth of the season.
Tip: Martin Odegaard any time goalscorer vs Sheffield United – 6/4 with SpreadEx
Wolves vs Newcastle predictions
(Sky Sports Main Event, 5.30pm Saturday)
Gary O’Neil recently gave a unique insight into how he’s masterminded Wolves’ turn around in fortunes and they head into the clash with Newcastle unbeaten in four games.
Wolves came from behind to beat O’Neil’s former club Bournemouth last time out, further boosting the confidence of a side that recently turned over Manchester City at Molineux.
Having had time to work with his charges, O’Neil’s team look well organised and carry a threat up front with Pedro Neto the league-leader when it comes to assists.
They appeal at 27/25 with BetUK to avoid defeat at home to Newcastle, despite the tremendous form of the Magpies recently.
Eddie Howe’s men have won four of their last five league games and enter the weekend as the division’s top scorers.
But they were beaten by Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League in midweek, with injuries to Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy compounding the misery.
Newcastle were a little sluggish in the next league engagement after their last European outing, while they don’t have the best record at Molineux, failing to win on their last five visits.
Tip: Wolves-draw double chance vs Newcastle – 27/25 with BetUK
West Ham vs Everton predictions
(Sky Sports Main Event, 1pm Sunday)
West Ham have lost two on the bounce to Aston Villa domestically and Olympiakos in Europe but look decent value at 5/4 with bet365 to put those defeats behind them when they return home to face Everton.
The Hammers have lost only three times at the London Stadium since the turn of the year and a visit from the Toffees should hold no fear.
It’s been a difficult week for Everton following the death of chairman Bill Kenwright and the looming threat of a points deduction, while matters on the pitch haven’t been going well either.
Sean Dyche’s team were left feeling aggrieved by the referee’s decision-making in last weekend’s Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool, although they rarely threatened the Reds before Ashley Young’s sending off.
Everton would point to being ranked sixth in the league for expected goals as a sign they are creating chances, but West Ham match up well with their physical visitors and won’t be muscled out of the contest.
Jarrod Bowen is on top of his game right now, registering his sixth of the season against Aston Villa, while James Ward-Prowse’s set piece deliver will ask questions of an Everton defence that’s vulnerable in dead ball situations.
