Liverpool vs Toulouse betting tips:
- Mohamed Salah to score any time – 8/11 William Hill
- Gabriel Suazo to be booked – 14/5 BetMGM
- Liverpool to keep a clean sheet – 11/10 BoyleSports
Liverpool have won successive games to start their Europa League campaign and are looking to firm up their standing at the top of Group E against Toulouse on Thursday.
Jurgen Klopp’s team defeated LASK and Union Saint-Gilloise in their first two matches of the group stage.
The Merseysiders did go behind against LASK before rallying to a 3-1 win before easing past the Belgian outfit at Anfield last time out.
Toulouse will pose a tougher challenge as they sit second behind Liverpool in the group. But, the Reds have been in good form this term, including their 2-0 win over Everton in a controversial Merseyside derby.
Klopp and his team have lost only once this term, which came when they were reduced to nine men against Tottenham.
So, they will be hopeful of securing another victory against the French outfit, who have not been at their best domestically, despite taking four points from their first two Europa League games.
The Reds are favourites for the contest with odds from the best UK betting sites, but we’ve focused on other elements of the game for our three predictions.
Salah hot streak to continue
Mohamed Salah was the subject of intense speculation towards the end of the transfer window, but Liverpool rebuffed lucrative offers from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad for the Egypt international.
The 31-year-old has proved that the attention has not affected his play on the field as he responded by scoring eight goals in 11 games in all competitions.
Salah has been extremely impressive in his last two Premier League games, scoring twice against Brighton and Everton.
He scored late on against LASK, and given his form in front of goal, you can be sure he will be eyeing another strike against Toulouse.
The only issue could be his time on the pitch as Klopp may opt to rotate his squad amid the tough workload of the campaign.
The forward has a price of 8/11 with William Hill to score any time at Anfield, which given his current form looks appealing against the French outfit.
Suazo to be booked
Toulouse are going to have a tough time against Liverpool’s potent forward line at Anfield, especially in their matchups on the flanks.
Gabriel Suazo will have to cope with Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold on his side of the pitch, which will make life difficult for the full-back.
Suazo scored the winning goal for the French side in their win over LASK, so it shows that he’s willing to push forward into the final third and support his teammates.
On the other hand, he could be punished for showing such intent against Liverpool. He has made 0.77 fouls per game this season and has been shown three yellow cards, including in the triumph over LASK.
Suazo also loves a sliding tackle, making 12 over the course of the season with a 66.7 per cent success rate. Salah and company are a different level of class to Suazo’s usual opponents and that could result in a yellow.
There are good prices with football betting sites, but we’re backing Suazo to be booked at odds of 14/5 with BetMGM.
Will Liverpool keep a clean sheet?
The Reds have been fairly solid at the back at Anfield this season.
They’ve conceded only three goals in six games in all competitions and have kept back-to-back clean sheets in their wins over Union Saint-Gilloise and Everton.
Klopp's team have not been watertight on their travels and they are prone to the odd sloppy moment.
Alisson appears to be in great touch between the posts, but Klopp may opt to rotate his keeper out of the line-up as fit-again Caoimhin Kelleher could take back his place as the Europa League stopper.
The backline seems to be building confidence, as although Virgil van Dijk is not the player he was at the peak of his powers, he remains one of the best defenders in Europe.
Toulouse have scored in their last six matches in all competitions, so Liverpool will have to defend well.
Frank Magri and Thijs Dallinga have the ability to cause problems, but Toulouse are without the injured Zakaria Aboukhlal for the contest, who has scored twice this term.
After shutting out Union-Saint Gilloise, Liverpool are priced at 11/10 with BoyleSports to make it two clean sheets in a row in the Europa League.
