Australia vs England betting tips:

Australia will be relishing the prospect of ending England’s tenure as Cricket World Cup holders in their clash on Saturday in Ahmedabad.

Jos Buttler’s side could already be eliminated from the tournament if results elsewhere don’t go in their favour, but their fate will be sealed if they fail to defeat the Baggy Greens.

England’s defence of their 50-over title has been dismal, to say the least. They’ve won just one of their six games and have suffered humiliating defeats, including their 100-run loss to India last time out.

Australia on the other hand have come good at the tournament and their with odds UK bookmakers to win a sixth Cricket World Cup have been slashed.

Pat Cummins’ team have won four games on the bounce, holding their composure in their last outing against New Zealand to secure a five-run victory.

The Aussies can close in on a place in the semi-finals with a victory, so they have more than enough incentive to end England’s tournament.

After looking at the best Cricket World Cup odds, we’ve made three predictions for the contest.

Warner to torment England

David Warner has enjoyed an exceptional World Cup and is firmly in the running to be the leading runscorer, although Quinton de Kock’s fourth century of the tournament has allowed the South Africa batter to take a healthy lead at the top of the chart.

Warner is priced at 7/2 with new betting sites to finish as the tournament’s top batter, but he needs another strong performance against England.

He has scored two centuries and a knock of 81 in his last three innings, setting Australia up perfectly at the top of the order. It has paved the way for his teammates to build imposing totals that have driven them to victories and up the standings.

Warner faces a wounded England side, although he has not been at his best against Buttler’s men in the past. In 27 matches, he averages 34.00 with two centuries and six fifties, well below his statistics measured against other opponents.

But, one of those hundreds did come in a dominant win for the Aussies in Melbourne last year. We’re backing him to continue his rich vein of form at the World Cup with a score of 75 runs or more at 13/5 with Betway

Tip: David Warner to score 75 runs or more – 13/5 Betway

Hazlewood impact at the top

Although Australia have caught the eye in their four-game winning streak, there are still issues with the bowling attack.

Adam Zampa has been excellent and is a contender in the race to finish as the leading wicket taker in the tournament.

The leg-spinner claimed three strikes against New Zealand to stymie the Black Caps in their chase.

However, the pace bowlers have been off the boil and none of the big three - Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Cummins - have a bowling average under 30 at the World Cup.

Starc has been underwhelming after topping the wicket column at the last two World Cups, while Cummins is still showing the signs of his heavy workload in The Ashes.

Hazlewood has been quiet with eight wickets in six games, although he has performed better than his teammates.

Given England’s struggles at the top of the order, Hazlewood could make an impact by taking over 1.5 wickets priced at 1/1 with bet365

Tip: Josh Hazlewood to take over 1.5 wickets – 1/1 bet365

Root struggles to continue

Joe Root’s performances have been painful to watch. One of the best players in the world has simply been shockingly out of touch at the Cricket World Cup.

He entered the tournament short on confidence, but he responded with two half-centuries in the first two games against New Zealand and Bangladesh.

Since then, Root’s form has taken a dramatic decline, scoring a combined 16 runs in his last four innings. That includes a first-ball duck against India when he was pinned lbw by Jasprit Bumrah.

The 32-year-old's problems have been representative of England’s woes in India.

Unfortunately for Root, his problems may continue against Australia. His ODI record when facing the Baggy Greens is poor, averaging 27.25 in eight games with a top score of 91.

Unibet have set a run line for Root at 31.5 for its over/under. Given his form and record against the Aussies, we’re backing the under at 3/4.

Tip: Joe Root to score under 31.5 runs – 3/4 Unibet
