Australia vs Bangladesh betting tips:
- Adam Zampa to take over 1.5 wickets – 13/25 Unibet
- David Warner to score 70 runs or more – 9/4 bet365
- Mahmudullah to be Bangladesh’s top batter – 4/1 Betway
Australia will be looking to refine their skills against Bangladesh ahead of the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup semi-finals following an incredible three-wicket win over Afghanistan.
The Aussies appeared beaten against Hashmatullah Shahidi's team in Mumbai after being reduced to 91 for seven in their chase of 292.
But, Glenn Maxwell produced one of the great ODI innings of all time to score a double century to lead Australia to an improbable victory.
The result secured Australia’s place in the semi-finals, reaching the last four for the seventh time in the last eight tournaments.
The Aussies are second favourites with UK bookmakers to win the World Cup behind India, but they will have to raise their game in the knockout phase.
Pat Cummins’ side will face South Africa in the semi-finals, and after losing to the Proteas in the group stage, Australia will be determined to find their peak form to take into the contest by brushing aside Bangladesh.
Bangladesh have already been eliminated from the competition but will want to bow out on a high note.
They can still qualify for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 by finishing in the top eight, although it would likely require an upset against the Aussies to achieve.
We’ve made three predictions for the Aussies’ final group game using the Cricket World Cup odds.
Zampa form will be crucial
Adam Zampa has been one of the standouts of Australia’s World Cup campaign.
After losing their opening two matches when Zampa and his fellow bowlers struggled against India and South Africa, the leg-spinner found his form to take 19 wickets in six games.
He has taken the second most wickets at the tournament, and his odds with new sports betting sites to finish as the World Cup’s leading wicket taker are worth consideration.
Zampa has become Australia’s key bowler in light of the struggles of the seamers, who have failed to make an impact in India.
Zampa has held the attack together, and he has provided Cummins control in the middle overs, notably taking three for 21 in his 10-over spell against England.
He was not quite at his best against Afghanistan, notching one wicket for 58.
With the Proteas on the horizon, Zampa will want to head into the last four with confidence. In two matches against Bangladesh, Zampa has taken three wickets at an average of 27.00.
Shakib Al-Hasan's side have not approached their batting with great intent in the World Cup, so there will be opportunities for all the Australia bowlers.
For our first Australia vs Bangladesh prediction, we’re backing Zampa to take over 1.5 wickets at 13/25 with Unibet.
Will Warner regain rhythm?
David Warner was in contention to be the leading run scorer at the tournament, keeping pace with Quinton de Kock and Virat Kohli in the top two.
But, his performances in the last two games have been concerning as he was dismissed for 15 against England and 18 in the clash with Afghanistan.
The 36-year-old is likely playing in his last World Cup and will be determined to finish on a high.
Warner had been in scintillating form, notching back-to-back centuries against Pakistan and Netherlands before blasting 81 against New Zealand.
When in rhythm the left-hander is a very difficult opponent to stop, but the last two matches may have just halted his momentum.
That could be concerning for Cummins and Australia given his importance at the top of the order.
Warner has only played Bangladesh twice in ODI cricket, but smashed 166 against them in the 2019 World Cup at Trent Bridge.
So, he may enjoy facing a team that has one eye on a plane home. For our second Australia vs Bangladesh prediction, we’re taking Warner to score 70 runs or more at odds of 9/4 on bet365.
Mahmudullah to shine
Mahmudullah has been Bangladesh’s best batter at the tournament and like Warner could be playing in his final World Cup game.
He flashed his ability against South Africa by scoring a brilliant century that gave the Proteas something to think about, although their contest was one-sided.
At his best, the 37-year-old can clear the ropes with ease, notching 11 sixes in his six innings.
Australia will have to be wary of his ability. He has played well against the Aussies in the past, scoring 69 from 50 balls in their clash at Trent Bridge in the 2019 World Cup.
Australia’s bowlers outside of Zampa have not been at their best, so there could be an opportunity for Mahmudullah to go out at the World Cup with a bang.
With our final Australia vs Bangladesh prediction, we’re taking odds of 4/1 with Betway for Mahmudullah to be his side’s top batter in Pune.
Tip: Mahmudullah to be Bangladesh’s top batter – 4/1 Betway
