ALEX CHABLO (Letters, 3 April) suggests that the state founds and endows a new Oxford college as a lasting memorial to those who risked or lost their lives during the Second World War. Why Oxford, already favoured above other places of learning?

I would propose a completely new institution in a town that does not already have facilities for higher education. I am sure that many potential sites could be found, and a new university serve as a useful economic boost for the area ultimately chosen.
