Lost woman rescued from Australian bush survived by drinking wine and eating sweets

Footage shows the moment a woman who was missing for five days in dense Australian bushland was rescued by police.

The 48-year-old went on a holiday to the town of Bright, Victoria, last week and when she didn’t make her daily call to check in with loved ones on 30 April, they raised the alarm.

After a week of searching, her car was located at the end of a dirt road in the bushland and a local police van was then directed by helicopter to her location, where she was found safe and well.

“She was only planning a short-day trip so had only taken a couple of snacks and lollies with her but no water,” a press release from Victoria Police read.

“The only liquid Lillian, who doesn’t drink, had with her was a bottle of wine she had bought as a gift for her mother so that got her through.”
