Watch killer whales wreck boat in latest violent attack off Spain

British sailor April Boyes captured the moment a group of killer whales attacked her vessel off the coast of southern Spain on Wednesday 24 May, in one of dozens of similar orca attacks recorded so far this year on Spanish and Portuguese coasts.

The orcas broke the rudder and pierced the hull after ramming into the boat on its way to Gibraltar, prompting its crew of four to contact Spanish authorities for help, a spokesman for the local maritime rescue service said.

Video shows the whales ramming into the vessel as the crew attempt to scare them off with noise.
