Richard Hammond admits friends ‘anxious’ to get in car with him

Richard Hammond says his friends are "anxious" to get into a car with him when he is behind the wheel.

The former Top Gear star, 54, appeared on The Paul Chowdhry PudCast for an episode released on 10 April.

Speaking to the host, Hammond said: “Some of them get anxious.

“What’s worse is when somebody else [is] driving and I’m in the car … because it tends to go one of two ways... Either they demonstrate I’m going to drive normally, or ‘Wahey, here we go’, and they overcook it. That can get alarming.”

Hammond also spoke about his 2006 crash in a jet-powered dragster at nearly 320mph, which left him in a coma.
