You may not know it, but “Walk Scilly” weekend takes place in October – a long weekend of themed, guided walks that makes for a great time to discover the islands – with a series of experts who live and breathe the Scilly Isles.

And we can’t think of anywhere better to stay if you’re heading over to the islands than these luxurious five-star hideaways lined up by the beach on Tresco, the Scillies’ second largest island.

Situated on the western side of the island, and built on the site of an old First World War flying boat station, each of these 12 contemporary beach homes sleeps from six to 10 people and has been kitted out to suit the most discerning guests. They have a seafront garden, an onsite spa, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, shop and deli, plus a restaurant and bar and other facilities like bike hire.

Furnished with contemporary flair, they all have balconies with fabulous sea views, satellite TV, wi-fi and walls decorated with thoughtfully chosen Cornish art.

As you might expect, it’s not cheap, and you should be prepared to fork out for your slice of paradise. But there’s no better place to dip your toes into island life…or to return to after an invigorating hike across the island.
