Half-term skiing: Conditions look good, with plenty of fresh snow reported across the Alps.

In Austria, the Arlberg region was the place to be with sunshine on Thursday and fresh snow at Lech (150/205cm) and St Anton (95/220cm) where base depths are very impressive. Significant improvement in piste conditions in the eastern Tyrol and the Salzburg region were reported.

In France, all regions have had fresh snow with the heaviest in the Chamonix valley; Argentière (40/250cm) reported more than two metres in a week. The most new snow is expected to land in Val d'Isère (134/235cm).

Conditions are excellent across most Swiss regions, with stand-out resorts including Engelberg (30/340cm) and Verbier (27/200cm), where 10cm of new snow fell on Thursday. Light snow is expected over much of the week ahead, with visibility affected. Temperatures will remain low across many regions.

The Dolomites saw much needed fresh powder, with totals in excess of 20cm falling in the majority of resorts in the region. Arabba (40/48cm) and Campitello (15/80cm) saw the biggest gains; around 40cms to 60cms during the course of the week.

The Vallnord region in Andorra is looking good and Arcalis (80/115cm) in particular has the deepest base. The outlook is positive for this weekend, before lower temperatures next week. Up to 30cm of snow is forecast by Wednesday.

High winds in Bulgaria were impacting lift operations at Bansko (65/100cm) and Borovets (70/105cm) in particular. The freezing level is set to soar to 3,000m by tomorrow.

Scotland continues to offer good skiing. Thursday morning started with a fresh blanket of up to 10cm of new snow at Cairngorm (40/50cm).

In the US, temperatures have been relatively mild. However, they are likely to drop below freezing. California saw spring-like conditions on and off the piste.

In Canada, snow was recorded higher up at Kicking Horse (167cm) and Revelstoke (218cm). The outlook is very snowy for western Canada, with snow expected every day over the next week.
