Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Today...

Book into Francis Ford Coppola's new Buenos Aires hideaway, Jardin Escondido, a six-room townhouse in the chic Palermo Soho district. It can be rented by the floor or in its entirety (coppolajardinescondido.com).

This week...

'Lines of Control' is part of a series of exhibitions, opening at the Green Cardamom Gallery in London on Wednesday, until 17 March. The art on display explores partitioning in places such as Pakistan and India, Israel and Palestine and Baghdad's Green and Red Zones (greencardamom.net). Over in Brazil, carnival fever grips Rio de Janeiro from Friday, when a riot of colour and sound engulfs the city over five days of partying (riodejaneiro-turismo.com.br).

In the diary...

'The Artist Traveller: From Gaugin to Klee, from Matisse to Ontani' opens at the City Art Museum of Ravenna on 22 February, until 21 June. The exhibition reveals how travel inspired the work of some of the most celebrated artists (museocitta.ra.it). And in France this summer, holidaymakers can get a taste of bush living in one of Eurocamp's stylish new safari tents, launching at a handful of sites (eurocamp.co.uk).
