Star Wars: The Force Awakens browser extension prevents spoilers, keeps users from reading about the film
A simple extension for Google Chrome will allow for a Star Wars-free life
There are just days until Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives in cinemas, and already the entire internet is out to ruin it for everybody with spoilers.
But a new tool is looking to keep information from running into information about the film by looking through your internet browsing and bringing up a huge warning Star Wars-themed warning.
The extension looks through open pages for problem phrases. If it sees one, it brings up a big overlay covered with a scrolling box like the start of the film — hiding the site but offering users the option to “Proceed Anyway”.
It also adds a little Stormtrooper helmet to the top of the browser, allowing for it to be turned off and on when needed.
The internet has been getting ready for Star Wars, with Google taking the lead in putting Easter eggs into many of its products. It also used the “opening crawl”, adding a feature that showed results in the scrolling yellow text and could do the same for any website.
