Wimbledon '99: Game, Set And Matchless
1970: COURT V KING
Both women were carrying injuries - and trying to disguise them. In an epic first set, Billie-Jean King held a break of serve on four occasions (she led 3-2, 5-4, 7-6 and 8-7). On each occasion, however, Margaret Court broke back, and she eventually won the set 14-12. Then, leading 7-6 in the second set, Court had her first match point, but this time she was the one to be thwarted. After missing four more opportunities to win the title in the 20th game, she finally lifted the crown at the fifth time of asking. The final score, in one of the longest women's finals of all time - it lasted two hours and 27 minutes - was 14-12 11-9 in Court's favour.
