Widnes yesterday parted company with Tony Myler, their coach, after Doug Laughton's return for a third stint as team manager. Myler claims he was sacked because he was not prepared to work with Laughton.
Oldham's Western Samoan forward, Joe Faimalo, has signed a new contract to the end of 1997 which covers the first two Super League seasons. Kiwi Jason Temu has verbally agreed a deal covering one Super League season.
St Helens have been handed a double boost by Andy Northey and Adam Fogerty. Northey has agreed a revised four-year contract, while Fogerty has signed a new 12-month deal.
Castleford have signed the former Doncaster and Leeds hooker, Colin Maskill, on an 18-month contract. Maskill, 31, will act as cover for Richard Russell, who will miss most of the winter season after damaging cruciate knee ligaments.
