Today: In the Premiership, Everton seek their first home victory of the season against a Newcastle side yet to ignite under Ruud Gullit. Stevenage take on Runcon for the right to visit Lincoln City in round two of the FA Cup.

Tomorrow: Liverpool's Uefa Cup quest continues in Spain against Aston Villa's conquerors, Celta Vigo (8.35). A nine-match bill of FA Cup replays includes Fulham away to Leigh RMI, Kidderminster against Plymouth and Rotherham versus Emley.

Wednesday: Manchester United's match against Barcelona in the Nou Camp is the star attraction in the Champions' League, in which Arsenal face Lens.

Friday: Having triumphed at Sunderland, Barnsley return to Oakwell to meet another First Division promotion candidate, Huddersfield Town.

Saturday Premiership leaders Aston Villa bid to launch another unbeaten run away to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest. Chelsea will go second if they overcome Sheffield Wednesday at home. Tottenham travel to West Ham. In the First Division, leaders Sunderland face a tricky test away to fourth-placed Sheffield United, second-placed Watford go to Crystal Palace.

Sunday: Liverpool's consistency will be tested at home to managerless Blackburn in the televised Premiership action on a day which also features Arsenal at home to Middlesbrough and Manchester United at home to Leeds.
