Wimbledon 2018: Who is Adrian Mannarino? Roger Federer's fourth round opponent profiled

Roger Federer’s Wimbledon campaign continues on ‘Magic Monday’ with a fourth round clash against Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.

Federer has been in outstanding form at this year’s Championships. He has won 29 consecutive sets at the All England Club and has yet to even face a break point at this year’s tournament.

However Mannarino will be his toughest test yet. The 30-year-old, ranked 26th in the world, beat Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in five sets to reach the second week of Wimbledon for the third time in his career, although he is still waiting on a first quarter-final appearance.

“Federer is definitely an artist,” Mannarino said about his next opponent at the end of the first week. “If he is Picasso, maybe I am an artist too – but one that is a lot less well-known. I can’t compare myself to his style, that would just be arrogant.

“Every player out there is a kind of artist and able to do some crazy things on court with their own style. Of course we know what a great player Federer is, but you can only go on court and play your best.

“He has all the experience and I don’t think I can distract him or disrupt his style. It is just about playing well.”

Despite Mannarino’s modest, Federer certainly appears to be expecting a tough match.

“In the next round it will be a lefty,” he noted after his third round victory over Jan-Lennard Struff

“So it will be much more of a strategic match, I believe, the way Mannarino plays.”
