Home fans will be treated to a double-bill of British number ones at Wimbledon on Wednesday when Johanna Konta stars in a revenge play against Croatia's Donna Vekic before defending champion Andy Murray takes to the stage.

With world number two Rafa Nadal bringing down the curtain on the scheduled matches, taking on the United States' Donald Young, a few more chapters in the quest for this year's titles will be written by the end of the day.

Sixth seed Konta, 26, lost to 21-year-old Vekic, ranked 58, in the final of the Nottingham grasscourt tournament last month.

Twice champion Murray, who has been suffering with a sore hip, has already dispatched one player with an armoury of unconventional shots, Kazakh Alexander Bublik.

He now takes on 97th ranked Dustin Brown of Germany, whose trademark dreadlocks are often sent flying as he leaps for seemingly ungettable balls.

Konta* 7-6 2-2 Vekic (*denotes next server)

Vekic finds herself at 0-40 down on her own serve as Konta threatens to break back. Vekic saves the first two as Konta misses a forehand pass before the Croatian fires down an unreturnable serve. However, the British No 1 breaks at the third time of asking with a well-placed inside-out forehand

Ants galore

There are loads of flying ants at Wimbledon. Apparently it's Flying Ant Day. Pretty weird and disgusting, eh?

Konta 7-6 4-6 8-7 Vekic* (*denotes next server)

Konta double faults in the first point of the game to immediately put pressure on her own serve before an inside-out forehand winner by Vekic makes it 0-30. The sixth seed responds by sending down three unreturnable serves to bring up game point, which she takes with a fine serve-forehand combo.

Game, set, match! Konta downs Vekic in three-set epic (7-6 4-6 10-8)

Vekic hits the net with a backhand pass in the opening point before a drive-backhand volley by Konta puts the Briton within two points of the win. At 0-30 Vekic sends down an unreturnable serve followed by a big serve-forehand combo to level the game up. Konta brings up match point as her opponent sends a forehand long... but Vekic saves it with an ace! Konta earns another match point with a cross-court forehand winner... and this time she takes it as Vekic dumps a forehand into the net!

We have just witnessed one of the matches of the year.

Vekic leaves the court in floods of tears after some consoling words from her opponent. It's just a shame that somebody had to lose.

Murray vs Brown underway

Andy Murray vs Dustin Brown is just about underway on Centre Court. Here's a little look at what Muzza's opponent is capable of:

Murray 1-1 Brown* (*denotes next server)

Brown clearly isn't interested in getting involved in too many long rallies. Huge serves, regular approaches to the net and numerous drop shot attempts tell you that. Still, it seems to work for him - and it's bloody entertaining.
