From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

There will be no repeat of last summer's heroics for Jonny Marray, who last Wimbledon turned a wildcard entry into becoming the first Briton to win a mens' doubles title since 1936.

The Sheffield-based Liverpudlian, now partnered by Scot Colin Fleming, lost in straight sets to sixth seeds Robert Lindstedt and Daniel Nestor in the third round of this year's tournament.

It was a measure of revenge for Lindstedt who was on the wrong side of the net last year when Marray and Danish partner Freddie Nielsen won the title – his first successive Wimbledon final defeat.

Marray and Fleming, who play Davis Cup together, lost the first set on the tie-break then were broken at 5-6 in the second. That reverse seemed to break their spirit as well as they tamely succumbed 6-3 in the third in less than half-an-hour.

Actually, Marray does have a second chance to repeat last summer's glory. He is partnering compatriot Heather Watson in the mixed doubles. The pair pay their second round match against David Narrero and Kimiko Date-Krumm later on Monday. Fleming, too, has a mixed-doubles back-up partnering Laura Robson against Filip Polasek and Janette Husarova.
