Jelena Dokic won her first grass-court title at the DFS Classic in Edgbaston yesterday.

The Yugoslav breezed past the Russian 20-year-old Anastasia Myskina 6-2, 6-3 to win her fifth tour title overall and gain revenge for her loss to Myskina earlier this year on clay.

The Israeli Anna Smashnova passed the million-dollar career earnings mark when she beat Iroda Tulyaganova of Uzbekistan 6-4, 6-1 in the final of the Uniqa Grand Prix in Vienna, Austria.

In Uzbekistan's Tashkent Open, the Swiss 18-year-old Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian justified her top seeding by beating the second seed Tatiana Poutchek of Belarus 6-4, 6-4 to win her first Tour title.

In Halle, Germany, the Russian Yevgeny Kafelnikov won the Gerry Weber Open for the third time when he came from a set down to beat the local favourite Nicolas Kiefer 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. The former world No 1 claimed his first title of the year.
