From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Alex Bogdanovic's week ended on a flat note as he lost his Wimbledon wildcard play-off match just hours after being beaten in the Surbiton Trophy final.

The 19-year-old went out to Norfolk's James Auckland 7-6 (7-5) 6-2 at Raynes Park in what proved to be, on the day, one match too many for the youngster.

"It was difficult today, especially in the windy conditions," he said. "He was also ready for me and serving big."

Bogdanovic now expects to be playing at Roehampton in the Wimbledon qualifying competition a week today but hopes to improve his ranking at the Stella Artois Championship when he opens his account tomorrow against a qualifier.

Meanwhile, his conqueror now meets his Norfolk county colleague Richard Bloomfield today for one of the two wildcards on offer via this mini competition, Bloomfield having beaten the Welshman, Chris Lewis, 6-3, 6-4.

Bloomfield hit the headlines at Surbiton when he beat, in his opening match, Vladimir Voltchkov, the second seed from Belarus.

Earlier, Berkshire's Jamie Delgado secured his place at Wimbledon with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Somerset's Lee Childs.
