From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

THE SCOTTISH qualifier Miles Maclagan pulled off a surprise first-round victory at the Northern Electric Open yesterday.
The 19-year-old ace overturned a gap of 150 places on the world rankings to defeat Andrei Rybalko, of the Ukraine, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.
There was no joy for the other British qualifier, 17-year-old Jamie Delgado from Maidenhead. The junior Wimbledon semi-finalist failed to maintain a bright start against the much higher ranked Italian Pietro Pennisi, losing 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.
Danny Sapsford also let a one-set lead slip as he lost 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 to another qualifier, Ben Ellwood of Australia. Sapsford needed treatment for an ankle injury in the third game of the match, but recovered from a 3-0 deficit to take the opening set.
