The imposing National Indoor Arena in Birmingham again provides the backdrop for the the AAA Senior Indoor Championships today and tomorrow and with it an opportunity to watch world-class athletes. Leading the entry is Linford Christie, the world and Olympic 100 metres champion who has been thrilling crowds in Glasgow with his sprinting at the recent indoor matches against Russia and the United States. Tom McKean, the world indoor 800m championship, will be opposed by Robert Kibet of Kenya, a late entry, and Gary Brown, who won the event in the match against the United States last weekend. The Championships open tonight at 7pm, continuing tomorrow at noon.

How to get there: National Indoor Arena, King Edward's Road, Birmingham. Junction 6 of M6 and the Arena is signposted from the A38(M). Fifteen- minute walk from Birmingham New Street railway station. Admission: today and tomorrow: pounds 4.50 adults, pounds 1.50 children. (Box Office 021-200 2222).
