Tomorrow afternoon Cardiff Devils, the holders, meet Murrayfield Racers in the final of the Benson and Hedges Cup, British ice hockey's premier knock-out competition. Since recruiting the Canadian John Lawless in 1986 as their player- manager, Cardiff Devils have gone from strength to strength. As last season's outstanding team, the Welsh side, with the prolific goalscoring Canadian Hilton Ruggles, start as favourites. Murrayfield, however, have been topping the Premier League for most of the season and are captained by Tony Hand, who was the League's leading points scorer last term, the first time a British player has won this award. The Cup final will be preceded by an All Star Challenge match.

How to get there: Sheffield Arena, Broughton Lane, is signposted on A6178, one mile from junction 34 of M1 and two miles from the city centre. Tickets cover both matches: pounds 10 adults, pounds 8 children under-16. All Star Challenge faces off at 11.30am, with the Cup final at 3pm. (Tel: 0742-565656).
