Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The sixth Makita international tournament on 6-7 August is at Arsenal FC this year and involves the hosts, Chelsea, last year's winners, Atletico Madrid and Napoli. The competition has fond memories for Arsenal. They won the first two tournaments at Wembley and, when the event moved to Highbury in 1991, Arsenal were beaten in a penalty shoot-out by the Italian side, Sampdoria.
Sampdoria this year head to Scotland for the International tournament at Rangers on 5-6 August and David Platt will be able to renew friendships with the club who released him, Manchester United. Newcastle United complete the four-team draw, played over Friday night and late Saturday afternoon.
For followers of the four-team format, Barcelona also stage their competition next month. The hosts, offering such entertaining talents in Romario, Hristo Stoichkov and Ronald Koeman, have invited Valencia, PSV Eindhoven and CSKA Sofia for the midweek event on 23-24 August.
