Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Manchester United don't look quite such false favourites for the European Cup following their favourable quarter-final draw against Monaco. Fancied outsiders Dynamo Kiev, however, face a tough tie against Juventus. Holders Borussia Dortmund look set for a titanic struggle with Bayern Munich but Real Madrid will fancy their chances against Bayer Leverkusen.

In the Uefa Cup, Aston Villa have run into Atletico Madrid - the ante- post selection here at 10-1. Favourites Internazionale have a tough draw against Schalke 04, who beat them in the final last season, but Ajax, running away with the Dutch league, have drawn outsiders Spartak Moscow. Lazio will find Auxerre no pushover.

In the Cup-Winner's Cup, Chelsea, with a tough tie against Spanish big spenders Real Betis, have been displaced as favourites by VfB Stuttgart by virtue of the fact the jammy Germans have drawn Slavia Prague. Vicenza will be expected to put Roda JC Kerkrade out while AEK Athens will be favourites to beat Locomotiv Moscow.

Meanwhile, Wimbledon, who drew at Everton last week, could beat Arsenal, beaten 3-1 at home to Blackburn last week, at home tonight.
