Sports Betting: England left facing a drawn-out process
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.ENGLAND NEED a win, but surely the best they can hope for is a draw when they travel to Bulgaria to play their equally-desperate hosts in tomorrow's Group Five Euro 2,000 qualifier.
The scoreline was 0-0 when the nations met at Wembley last year but, while a full-strength England side is capable of much better than that, the depleted outfit Kevin Keegan will have to field tomorrow may fare no better.
Bulgaria cut no ice when going down 2-0 to Poland in Warsaw on Friday, but they are still in with a mathematical shout of making the play-offs and will make life tough for England, now a top-priced 22-1 with the Tote to win Euro 2000.
Scotland might just sneak a draw at runaway Group Nine leaders, the Czech Republic. The hosts, 2-0 winners in Estonia on Saturday while Scotland (250-1 with Ladbrokes and the Tote to win Euro 2000) were being held 1- 1 in the Faroe Islands, are the form choice. But, already 10 points clear with just four games to play, the Czech Republic might just take their foot off the pedal and, at the odds, the draw represents a bit of value.
