Prosecutors have appealed for another chance to imprison Gnther Parche, who stabbed Monica Seles two years ago. Parche was given a two- year suspended sentence at his first trial in October 1993, confirmed on appeal earlier this week.

Shirli-Ann Siddall will make her Federation Cup debut for Britain in the new-format 16-nation Europe-Africa Qualifying Group One tie in La Manga, Spain, from 17-21 April. Siddall, 20, the British No 2, will line up alongside the No 1, Clare Wood, Jo Durie and 19-year-old Julie Pullin, with the former Wimbledon champion, Ann Jones, as non-playing captain.
