BERND KARBACHER, a quarter-finalist at last month's US Open, will make his Davis Cup debut for the defending champions, Germany, in this weekend's semi-final against Russia. Niki Pilic, the German team captain, named the 26-year-old Karbacher as the second singles player behind the former Wimbledon champion, Michael Stich, for the Hamburg match which starts tomorrow.
