The Briton Pete Goss is one of four entries to be announced for The Race, a non-stop round the world race scheduled to begin on 31 December 2000. The other three are Loick Peyron, brother of the organiser Bruno, Hank de Velde of the Netherlands and Oscar Konoukhov of Russia. The departure point will be chosen from Lisbon, Barcelona, Marseilles and Monaco.

The Tour de France a la Voile will be raced in Mumm 40s from 1999, giving a further boost to the boat's candidacy to be the Admiral's Cup one-design 40-footer.
