Keighley have withdrawn their threat of legal action against the Rugby Football League. They had threatened to take court action for compensation after being left out of the Super League despite winning the Second Division last season. Club officials were furious at the omission, but following Widnes's failure to press their claim in the courts, Keighley's threatened action was left outstanding.
Daio Powell, the 22-year-old former Welsh international charged with manslaughter, remained in prison in Perth, Western Australia, yesterday after failing to raise AUS$50,000 (pounds 23,000) bail. He was charged on Wednesday with the manslaughter of an Irish father of two, Stephen McLoughlin, 35, in an incident outside a Perth nightclub early last Saturday.
