Tim Adams, the Sheffield Eagles chairman, has been elected to Super League's board of directors, replacing the former Warrington chief executive, John Smith, who has stood down.

Super League clubs, meeting at Headingley, have turned down, by a majority vote, a proposal to place a moratorium on relegation after this season. They are to adopt, however, a formalised system of awarding points in various categories in order to assess the strength of future applications for membership.
