Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

WREXHAM made sure of promotion from the Third Division with a 2-0 win at Northampton last night which was secured by two first-half goals from their top scorer, Gary Bennett. Walsall secured a place in the Third Division promotion play-offs thanks to their Cameroonian international, Charlie Ntamark, who scored the only goal of the game at Crewe. Mansfield Town's 3-0 defeat at second-placed Port Vale sealed their relegation from the Second Division.

ALDO AGROPPI was dismissed as the coach of Fiorentina, the Italian Serie A club, yesterday after just 112 days in charge. In 15 games under Agroppi, the Florence team earned only 10 points.

ROMARIO, the Brazilian international forward, may be on the move to Valencia, the Spanish club, from PSV Eindhoven - if a fee can be agreed. Romario has scored 67 goals in 69 league matches for the Dutch champions.
