Stewart Houston, manager of Queen's Park Rangers, has won the Nationwide First Division manager of the month award for September. Rangers won four out of five league matches during September to climb to third place. Ian Atkins, manager of Northampton, took the Second Division award and the Notts County boss, Sam Allardyce, won the Third Division award.

Everton's teenage Danny Cadamarteri, who is eligible to play for five different countries, has been named in England's Under-18 squad for their Uefa Championship preliminary round match against Yugoslavia in Loznica on 11 October.
