A memorial fund has been set up for Ron Reeves, the Coventry City security officer who was killed in an accident with the Arsenal team bus an hour before Saturday's match at Highfield Road. Kevin Drinkell, the former Norwich City and Rangers forward, has been appointed manager of Montrose in succession to Tommy Campbell. Drinkell was previously in charge of Stirling Albion.

Wolves have signed the striker Guy Whittingham on a month's loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

A transfer tribunal has decided that Newcastle United must pay pounds 650,000 to Tottenham Hotspur for Garry Brady. Brady has yet to make a first team appearance since his move to St James' Park.
