Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Servette won the Swiss league on Wednesday night after a 5-2 away win over Lausanne Sports. Edwin Vurens scored a hat-trick which knocked Lausanne from the top of the table.

Clydebank have applied for permission to play their home games at the Borders non-League club Gala Fairydean next season. The Scottish First Division side nearly went out of existence at the end of last season because of unpaid bonuses and have been exploring a number of alternative venues after becoming disenchanted with life at Dumbarton's Boghead ground.

Hibernian, the newly-promoted Edinburgh club, have signed the Fulham forward, Dirk Lehmann. The 27-year-old scored twice in 14 starts for Fulham last season.

Steve Parkin has resigned as manager of Third Division Mansfield Town. The 33-year-old, whose side narrowly miss out on a play-off place this season, said: "After careful consideration I have decided to resign as manager of Mansfield. Certain assurances were made to me a couple of weeks ago, but they have not been upheld and after releasing seven players we now find ourselves under a transfer embargo."

Mark Lillis, the assistant to Brian Laws at newly-promoted Scunthorpe, has been appointed as manager of Halifax Town. The former Manchester City, Derby County and Aston Villa striker had been first choice since Kieran O'Regan was sacked in April.
