Uefa has banned Yugoslavia from entering a club in the Intertoto Cup this summer, due to the Nato bombing campaign. An extra Macedonian club will enter instead. Uefa will decide on Yugoslavian participation in next season's Champions' League and Uefa Cup on 15 June.

The Scottish Football League will admit two new clubs at the end of next season, when it adopts a structure of three divisions of 10 clubs. The Scottish Premier League is set to increase from 10 to 12 clubs for the 2000-01 campaign.

Edwin van der Sar, the Ajax goalkeeper, will join Italian Serie A side Juventus next season.

Francis Jeffers, the Everton striker, has been called into the England Under-21 squad before next month's European Championship qualifiers against Sweden and Bulgaria. Frank Lampard returns after being in the senior squad for the Hungary game.
