LISA LOMAS, England No 1, fought valiantly against Bettine Vriesekoop at Grantham before losing 18-21, 21-15, 22- 20. Lomas earlier beat the Dutch No 3 Emily Noor in straight games, but England were beaten 4-1 by the Netherlands, who are challenging for the European Super Division title.
