COLIN JACKSON, of Britain, warmed up for the world indoor championships in Toronto next weekend by equalling his own world best time of the year for the 60 metres hurdles in Karlsruhe, Germany, yesterday. The 26-year-old Welshman recorded 7.44sec to beat the Olympic champion Mark McKoy, who was second in 7.46 with Sergei Usov, of Belarus, third in 7.58.

JAVIER SOTOMAYOR, the indoor and outdoor world record-holder from Cuba, had a winning height of 2.37 metres in a single-event high jump meeting in Chicago. Hollis Conway, the 1988 Olympic gold medallist from the United States, was second with 2.34m.
