Alec Brown, four times a semi-finalist in the World Championship, has died in Plymouth aged 87.
Alex Higgins suffered an embarrassing defeat in the final qualifying round of the Royal Liver Assurance UK Championship in Blackpool yesterday. Higgins, who won the UK title in 1983, lost 5-0 to Grimsby's Karl Broughton.
