Goran Ivanisevic yesterday pulled out of the Romanian Open with a shoulder injury, a day after Boris Becker, the No 1 seed, left the tournament with a wrist injury.

Monica Seles, Lindsay Davenport, Mary Joe Fernandez and Linda Wild have been selected by Billie Jean King to represent the United States against Spain, the defending champions, in the Federation Cup final in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on 28-29 September.

The US Open champion, Steffi Graf, will play a tournament in Leipzig, eastern Germany, from 30 September to 6 October.
