Round-up: Thomas hearing gives Jenkins new headache

The Wales back Gareth Thomas will appear at a disciplinary hearing on Thursday, three days before the start of the Six Nations' Championship.

Thomas faces a charge of misconduct, and a possible suspension, for alleged "aggressive" and "offensive" behaviour towards Ulster fans during Toulouse's Heineken Cup victory last weekend. The Wales head coach, Gareth Jenkins, is due to pick his side for Saturday's match against Ireland at the Millennium Stadium tonight.

Injuries to Shane Williams, Mark Jones and Tom Shanklin have narrowed Jenkins' options in midfield and on the wings. Thomas can play in both areas.

Jenkins said: "We are going to burn the midnight oil. We have selection headaches." The fall-out from yesterday's Magners League match might turn that into a full-blown migraine - Gavin Henson left the Liberty Stadium pitch with a knee injury. The Ospreys, with two tries from the Scotland wing Nikki Walker, beat Ulster 29-22.

Andy Farrell, of Saracens, and London Irish's Shane Geraghty miss today's Guinness Premiership match at Vicarage Road, though Mike Catt, another England squad member, leads Irish from inside centre a week before the Six Nations opener against the Scots.
