Former Wallabies Tim Lane and Jeff Miller have been named as assistant coaches to the Australian rugby union team. The pair will work under new coach Rod Macqueen who was named as Greg Smith's replacement on 10 September.

Olivier Sourgens, the Begles-Bordeaux prop, has been banned for 60 days for illegal use of the boot in the European Conference pool D match against Connacht on Saturday. It was the second time in two seasons in the tournament that Sourgens hadreceived his marching orders. He was sent off for punching at Swansea last season and banned for 30 days.
