Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Springboks jumped out to a 12-0 lead by the seventh minute, scoring a converted try by Japie Mulder after only two minutes, followed by another from Mark Andrews five minutes later. The Pumas rallied strongly courtesy of a Jose Cilley penalty and a converted try by Rolando Martin to close the gap to 12-10. However, another pair of tries by Ruben Kruger and Andre Venter in the 24th and 37th minutes respectively gave the visitors a 27- 15 half-time lead.
James Small and Hennie le Roux added second-half tries for the Springboks, with the Argentinians replying through a Nicolas Fernandez Miranda try and penalties from Cilley and his replacement, Gonzalo Quesada.
The victory, before a crowd of 20,000 at Ferro Carril Oeste Stadium, concluded South Africa's four-match Argentinian tour, which also included last Saturday's 46-15 Test win.
