From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

THE former England captain Lawrence Dallaglio was questioned yesterday by the Rugby Football Union as part of their investigations into allegations that he took drugs.

After the meeting, a statement was issued on behalf of Dallaglio maintaining that he had "fully co-operated" with the RFU in their investigations.

Agustin Pichot, the 24-year-old Argentinian scrum-half, became Bristol's fifth recent signing yesterday. He joins other new arrivals Barry Williams, the Welsh international hooker; Spencer Brown, the England wing; prop Darren Crompton and flanker Adam Vander.

Newport have signed the Wales A flanker Jason Forster from Bedford. The 28-year-old, who had one match with Pontypridd last season, has played for Cross Keys, Swansea and Bridgend.

Gary Teichmann will captain South Africa against Wales for a record 35th time on Saturday. The No 8 missed the 101-0 defeat of Italy on Saturday with a knee injury.

The South African coach, Nick Mallett, has made seven changes from the side that started the rout against the Italians in Durban. Western Stormers fly-half Braam Van Straaten gets his first start in place of Gaffie Du Toit.

Scotland have recalled Duncan Hodge and Bryan Redpath for the tour game against Northern Free State in Welkom tonight. Leicester's Craig Joiner will play outside Jamie Mayer, who keeps his place.
