From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

MATT MOSTYN celebrated his almost certain inclusion in Ireland's World Cup squad after becoming on Saturday the first to score three tries in a Test since Shamus Byrne in 1954. The morale-boosting win for Ireland over Argentina was the Sydney-born wing's first international on Irish soil, following his debut in the first Test in Australia in June.
He struck either side of half-time and completed his hat-trick with the try of the match, racing on to hooker Keith Wood's kick upfield, side- footing the ball towards the try line, and scooping it up.
"It was great, it was my first home Test and I couldn't be happier," Mostyn said. "It was a nice day, a good crowd and to get three tries on top of that, I couldn't ask for anything more. It was terrific. I am loving it as an Irish player, I couldn't be prouder to be wearing and playing in an Irish shirt. It's great."
Mostyn's tries had lulled Ireland into cruise-control at 32-3, but a late three-try rally by the Pumas reduced the deficit to eight points, giving the Irish some nervous minutes at the end.
