Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Victor Ubogu, the England prop, may stay in South Africa after the World Cup to coach in the townships. "When England were in South Africa last year I was asked if I could manage to return to contribute to their development programme," he said. "They struggle to get black guys to coach the black youngsters, who need encouragement and examples. I will have to see how much time I can spare after being away for what England hope will be the full five weeks of the World Cup."

Tim Horan, the Australian centre, will play three games in a week to test whether he has regained full fitness in time to play in the World Cup. Horan has been out for 12 months since suffering a serious knee injury playing for Queensland in last year's Super 10 final against Natal.

Llanelli have seen the two Heineken Welsh League points deducted for a breach of squad size regulations returned on appeal, and now move up to sixth in the table.

The Swalec Cup semi-final between the holders, Cardiff, and Swansea next Saturday has been switched from Neath to Llanelli after safety officers cut the capacity at The Gnoll.

CLUB MATCHES: Camborne 16 Penzance-Newlyn 13; Redruth 21 St Mary's Hospital 10; Weston-super-Mare 51 Esher 8; Stroud 35 Walsall 30.
