GREAT BRITAIN'S Young Lions were beaten 27-8 by Penrith's youth side yesterday, adding to the defeat they suffered at the hands of Northern Territory in the first match of their Australian tour.

Penrith raced into a 19-0 lead by half-time, but the British amateurs dominated after the break and the pressure finally paid off with a superb long-distance solo try from Phil Hassan, of Wigan.

Whitehaven's Jonathan Roper added the goal, then a penalty, but the home side sealed victory with their third try. Shane Hopkins, the hosts' stand-off, finished the match with a tally of 15 points.
