Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Morley was dismissed after two minutes by the referee, Russell Smith, for punching the Saints forward, and though question marks were raised over Davidson's involvement, the Rugby League will not take action against him. The Great Britain international Morley must attend a disciplinary hearing tomorrow for being given his marching orders.
Hull's Rob Roberts and Andy Fisher, of Wakefield, both of whom were put on report at The Boulevard yesterday, will face no further action, as is the case with Dale Spritz after an alleged high tackle by him when his Castleford team lost to Bradford last night. But the RL executive committee will be writing to the Bulls after Stuart Spruce's alleged trip on Danny Orr in the game.
Their spokesman, John Huxley, explained: "No further action will be taken but the letter will warn about Spruce's involvement in the deliberate infringement. This will go on the player's record."
