This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

ROUND-UP

Glamorgan look to be back in the mood that brought them the 1993 Sunday League title after racing to a nine-wicket victory over Sussex at Swansea.

After dismissing Sussex for 132, Glamorgan's second-wicket pair of Stephen James and Matthew Maynard tore into the bowling and added an unbroken 124 to steer Glamorgan to only their second league win at home against Sussex.

The title-holders, Warwickshire, slipped to their second defeat as Lancashire cruised to a five-wicket win at Old Trafford. Lancashire achieved their seventh success in all competitions with 15 balls to spare after restricting Warwickshire to 193 for 8. Their key figure was Graham Lloyd, who was hurt while fielding but returned to hit an unbeaten 50 off 50 balls.

Derbyshire pressed the self-destruct button against Yorkshire for the second time in 24 hours as they crashed to a 59-run defeat at Chesterfield. After their thrilling seven-run Championship defeat on Saturday, Derbyshire's batting again failed dismally, this time chasing a modest 168 for victory.

A powerful half-century from Tom Moody set Worcestershire on the way to a 77-run win over Middlesex at New Road. Last year's runners-up maintained their powerful one-day form by making 199 for 6 and then dismissing Middlesex for 122 in 33.3 overs.

The New Zealand Test all-rounder Chris Cairns hit a crucial 45 to guide Nottinghamshire to a nail-biting four-wicket win over Gloucestershire at Bristol. Set only 116 to win in a match reduced by rain to 33 overs, the visitors scraped home with just four balls to spare.
