Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Top benefit (1.45) can take a sucessful step up to open class at Howick today for Dave Mansell, currently this season's leading rider with 16 winners. The seven-year-old showed little in five runs over two seasons in Ireland, but has been transformed since joining the trainer Julie Houldey at Sandfield Park Stables in the Cotswolds.

Top Benefit won his fourth race on the bounce in the intermediate at Chaddesley Corbett a fortnight ago in a time only fractionally slower than Cappa Bleu, now the favourite for the Cheltenham Foxhunters, set in the preceding men's open.

Bee An Bee (2.15) looks set to repeat last year's success in today's men's open at Godstone. The front-running veteran has little to fear from anything in his area and the main danger could be Simon Tindall's newcomer Letterman, who showed form under Rules in Ireland.
